Night in the Trenches at YHS

Friday night into Saturday morning, 150 YHS sophomores and
juniors participated in the historical reenactment of World War I
trench warfare. Created by YHS faculty members John Taylor and
David Paul, students and local reenactors participated in a realistic
World War I battle scene.

Coach Frank Solis took his Beach and Recreation PE class to
the beach to get in a little surfing.

Swearing In at YHS

10 Yucaipa and area seniors completed their induction into the
Army by taking their oath in front of the YHS student body Thursday.
Army Donation to YHS

Along with the amazing Golden Knights show, the Army donated
$2500 to YHS. Army officials stated they have never seen high
school students stand so fast for the flag and national anthem.
HBA Students at the Inland Empire Oncology Nurses Fair
On Saturday May 14th. 5 Health and Biomedical Academy
students volunteered at the Inland Empire Oncology Nurses
education fair. Trent Sentell, Nicole Wall, Hailey Hernandez,

Parachute Packing at YHS

Students in Ms. Haggerty's and Mrs. Kidd's LPS classes got a first
hand demonstration of how the Golden Knights' parachutes operate. 
Student Justin Mayo got to help repack a parachute that was used
in today's jump.  Luckily, he did it right!
57th YHS Prom at the Anaheim Hills Country Club
Asani Hampton at CIF Track and Field Prelim

Some great things happened this past Saturday at CIF.  Boys
4x100 Relay (Sean Becker, Ethan Abreau, Keo McChesney,
Asani Hampton) 3 sophomores and 1 freshman qualified for CIF
Finals Championships for Division 1.  This is the first time in school
history and puts them as the 9th overall ranked relay in the state
for Division 1. Also Asani Hampton qualified for 2 individual events
including the 100 meter 10.60 and 200 meter 21.64 dash making him
the #1 ranked Sophomore sprinter in the state and number 3 overall

Inventing and Helping Humanity at YHS

Junior Micah Raney recently completed the prototype of an
electronic range finder for visually impaired people. Raney's device,
parts of which where printed on one of YHS' 3D printers, will be
entered in the 2016 Google Science Fair.
Culturing Bacteria at YHS

1st Year Health Academy students practice aseptic technique and
learn how to plate and culture bacteria as they zero in on the cause
of death of the fictional Anna Garcia and prepare to attend a
medical symposium to present their findings

YHS Ceramic Artists Accepted into AMOCA
Senior Advanced Ceramic students Ashley Gonzalez and Yulissa
Vega have been accepted into the Biennial Emerging Artists: High
School Exhibition for 2016. Exhibition will be held May 14 – 29 2016.
Artist reception will be held on May 14th, 6-9 pm during Pomona’s
Artwalk. AMOCA is located at 399 N. Garey Ave., Pomona, Ca.
Tennis Advances to Round Three in CIF

Boys tennis team wins a second match in CIF against the
previously undefeated team yesterday from Highland High

Collegiate Cross Country and Track Athletes at YHS

Citrus Belt League 1600 meter champion Delaney Ellsworth, state
XC qualifier Rachel Gee and CBL track champion Makenna 
Plott signed national collegiate athletic letters of intent today at YHS.
YHS Softball Again Conquers the Citrus Belt League
AP Test Prep at YHS

AP Government gathered to have some fun before taking the AP
exam today. Students can earn college credit by passing AP
exams - a great way to end their senior year!
Art, Music, Drama and Video at YHS

Jeff Pitcher with student film makers Friday night at the inaugural
Spring Arts Event, featuring the senior art show, a district-
wide band concert, the advanced drama production and the 6th
annual YHS Film Festival. Along with live music at the art show
and a wonderful street taco vendor, students and parents were treated
to an impromptu open house of the vast YHS arts and technology

Block Y Athlete of the Week at YHS

The final 2016 Block Y Athlete of the Week is Macy Graham. Macy
is a sprinter and hurdler for the League Champion YHS Girls Track
and Field Team.
2016 Hozoni Atet and Junior Ushers at YHS

One of the most enduring traditions at Yucaipa High School is the
naming of the Hozoni Atet/Junior Usher class. Nomination to the
Hozoni Atet/Junior Ushers is based solely on academic performance.
ELAC Meeting May 25th
Fine Arts at YHS on May 6

Check out these amazing Arts and Crafts projects, along with
senior art portfolio projects at the Yucaipa High School Arts
Festival on Friday May 6. Also on the same night is a band
performance, a drama presentation and the Sixth Annual YHS
Film Festival.

College Bound Juniors are Invited to NACAC

All Juniors are invited to attend a field trip to NACAC. Admissions
representatives from hundreds of colleges and universities will be
available to speak with students regarding the admission process
and college life in general. Space is limited to the first 100 students,
Juniors eligible to attend a 4-year University will be given priority

Local Yucaipa artist Bob Walker added the long overdue finishing
touch to the Q Building Friday. A special T-Bird thank you goes
out to Charlie Rabico for his generous donation to the project.
