Hidden Heroes at YHS

Hayden Ramsey captained the YHS Mountain Bike team this
past season, riding in the insanely competitive varsity division.
Ramsey was also a four year cross country team veteran, starting
his career running 24 minutes for three miles and ending up at
17:17. Along with raising thousands of dollars for his teams,
Hayden ran on dozens of 100 degree days and rode up and down
the Crafton Hills at truly scary speeds.
AVID Awards at YHS

At the end of each school year, students from each grade level of
AVID receive awards for academic success, collaboration, and
determined effort. At the culmination of the evening, AVID seniors
receive their AVID sashes and cords to later wear during the
graduation ceremony
Perfect Softball at YHS

Take a good look, statistically this is the best softball team ever
put on the field by Yucaipa High School. Cruising through the
Citrus Belt League undefeated, the lady T-Birds held their league
opponents to a 0.00 era. Currently the club is rated #2 in CIF
Division 2, #3 in the state of California and #8 in the entire country.

Public Safety Academy at Active Shooter Training


On Saturday, May 9th, 17 YHS Law and Public Safety Academy
students volunteered to participate as "victims" during an Active
Shooter Training put on by San Bernardino County Fire, San
Bernardino County Sheriff's Department, Fontana Police, Fontana
School Police, and other local agencies. The students were made
up to look as if they had been wounded by the shooter. By playing
an active role in the drill, students were able to learn how law
enforcement and safety personnel handleáactive shooter situations.

After Yucaipa High School
Donations for Nepal at YHS

Mr. Steenhausen's students donated nearly $150 to the Red
Crossálast week in order to provide much-needed aid to people
affected by the recent earthquake in Nepal. Here, one of his
students, Isaiah Schirmer proudly displays an oversized replica
of the donation check.

The 2015 Hozoni Atet / Junior Ushers

One of Yucaipa High School's most cherished traditions, the
2015 class of Hozoni Atet and Junior Ushers was announced
Thursday.
Boys State at YHS

Congratulations to the Yucaipa High School 2015 American
Legion Boys State Nominees: (L-R) Luis Rivera, Tanner Chagolla,
Jacob Landreth, Jose Madrid, and Wyatt Young (seated).áá After
an interview with the American Legion Boys State representatives,
Wyatt Young was selected as the delegate, and Jacob Landreth
is the alternate.á Wyatt will spend a week this summer in
Sacramento with senior boys from across the state.á They will be
part of a fun and instructional program learning how our
government works, while developing leadership skills and an
appreciation of the rights and responsibilities of citizenship.
Girls State at YHS

Congratulations to the Yucaipa High School 2015 American
Legion Auxiliary Girls State Nominees: (L-R) Diedre McCoy,
Taylor Ellis, Alysa Beck, Serena Cinque and Rachel Gee (seated).
After an interview with the American Legion Auxiliary Girls State
representatives, Rachel Gee was selected as the delegate, with
Diedre McCoy and Taylor Ellis first and second alternates
respectively.á Rachel will spend a week this summer at Claremont
McKenna College with senior girls from across the state.á They
will be part of an enriched program that teaches young women
responsible citizenship and love for God and Country.á

Adopt-A-Family at YHS

Principal Shad Kirkland, Heather Aguilar and Valerie Garza
prepare to deliver a much better Christmas to 30 underprivileged
families in the Yucaipa Valley. The 1st Annual YHS Adopt-A-Family
program coordinated with students, campus clubs, local families
and YHS staff to provide 100's of gifts and over $1500 worth of
food gift cards. The kindness and generosity of Yucaipa High
School's students, families and staff is amazing.á (video)
