Congratulations:
YHS students Thomas  (T.J.) Moneymaker, Ellen Smith, Michelle Nguyen, Justin Belicki, Theodore Alejandre, and Brad Beler were honored at ninth annual President's Academic Excellence Scholarship dinner as being in the top 1% of their class. This recognition of the students' academic accomplishments qualifies them for President's Academic Excellence Scholarship at Cal State San Bernardino.

Congratulations: to Castaneya Streeby, the Daughters of the American Revolution Organization Good Citizen Award winner. Castaneya was nominated by a teacher and voted on by her peers. Congratulations Cassie!

Canned Food Drive
: The Food Drive is over and it’s time to announce the winners!! In 2nd place is Ms. Russell’s class with 318 cans and 1st place goes to Mrs. Calbreath’s 2nd period class who collected 373 cans. Thank you to everyone who participated in the drive. Your donations are greatly appreciated.

Two Rooms is coming to the MPR, Dec. 3rd, 4th, and 5th at 6:30pm. This intense political drama stars Rachael Moore, Ellen Drummonds, Maddie Wert and Jeff Hutchinson, with cameo appearances by Tarah Mosier, Taylor Horsfall and Jen Bower! Tickets are $5 at the door or you can buy them from the cast.

Invisible Children Club Book Drive
: Donate books to benefit children in Africa. Bring books to your History class. The deadline is Friday!

Congratulations
: again to our Thunderbird Marching Regiment for earning their fourth 1st-place award in a row. The band and colorguard both took home first place in their category at the Lester Oaks Memorial Field Tournament at Riverside King High School on Saturday. They will find out after Thanksgiving break whether they have been accepted to attend the Southern California School Band and Orchestra Association Championship Marching Competition on December 5th. What an outstanding season this has been! We're all proud of you.

Attention All Sophomores
:
Coming soon, for sophomores the California High School Exit Exam! The first administration of the exam for sophomores will be February 2nd for English and February 3rd for Math. To help you prepare for this very important exam the State of California provides an online study guide. There is a small supply of the printed guides available. If you would like a printed study guide, please stop by the front office to pick up a set.

Free tutoring: Free academic tutoring is available at lunch in the Counseling Office and after school (3:00-3:45PM) in the library.  It is only available Monday through Thursday.  Subjects typically available are math, English, science and social studies.  No appointment needed!

Attention!
The Yucaipa-Calimesa Joint Unified School District and the San Bernardino County Sheriff's Public Affairs division are providing an Online Family Safety Forum. Topics will include 'sexting', MySpace, Facebook, and Cyberbullying. The forum will be held at Parkview Middle School on December 3, 2009. View the flyer for more details.

Transcripts Requests: If you need transcripts for college or work, make sure you visit the YHS Registrar web page for the details of getting a copy of your transcript. There is not cost for current students.

Daily Bulletin: The YHS daily bulletin will no longer be handed out to the classes on paper. Student assistants will be posting copies in specific areas of the campus like attendance office, counseling office, MPR, activities office, etc. As always, the daily bulletin is also always
available online

Tutors
: Once again the Counseling Center is looking for a few good volunteer tutors!! If you are a Junior or Senior, have a GPA of over 3.#, and are willing to volunteer an hour of your time one day each week to help your fellow students, please come see Mr. Sternard in the counseling office.

Seniors
: New scholarship just posted for seniors pursuing a career in business administration or education. Details and applications available at www.caeop.org.

Seniors: new scholarship opportunity from Delta Theta Chi Sorority. See the scholarship board in Counseling.

Seniors: If you plan to apply to Boston University, or Emory University, there are scholarships available specifically for these two.

ASVAB: Juniors and Seniors you have an opportunity to take a Career Exploration Assessment for free and find out what career you would be best suited for. The ASVAB will be given on December 1st Tuesday.

Attention Snowriders: There is an important meeting about dates and costs. If you have already joined the club, or are interested in hitting the slopes with us in January, then don't miss this meeting on Friday, at 7:30am in room P-3.

AVID: Do you like Frugo's? Rosie's or O'campo's? AVID is selling a  community card that will get you discounts at these places and many more! See an AVID teacher or student to purchase one for only $10!

Block Y Members! Please join School Fusion! There are a lot of events this week & our website under clubs is the only way to get the info!



The Boys Cross Country team advanced to the CIF Division I Cross Country Finals which will be held this Saturday at Mt San Antonio College at 10:45am.  The top seven teams qualify for CIF State Championship which will be held on Saturday, November 28th at Woodward Park in Fresno.  Our team has a strong chance of advancing to the state championship.  Of special note in the race this past weekend, Tyler Dutchover placed 1st, Jeremy Brummitt placed 2nd, and Chad Andrews placed third. 

ATHLETICS

Boys Basketball try-outs will be today, in the Gym, 3:15 – 5:15. You can pick up an information flyer in the Activities office.

Football Banquet  Tickets on sale in the Activities Office.  $15 per person.  No tickets will be sold at the door.  Tickets are available through December 4th.

First Fellowship of Christian Athletes  There will be a huddle meeting for all student athletes.  Meet at Park View MPR 6:00 p.m. on Monday, November 30th.  Dinner provided.  Free FCA Bibles will be given out.

Wrestling
: Tryouts continue this week, Monday thru Friday, 4pm -6:30pm. Weight Certification will be held Friday, $12.

Attention swimmers: There are still towels, sweats, and hoodies from last year on sale! Pick up a form in the Activities office.

All students interested in joining the YHS swim team
, there will be a MANDATORY informational meeting Thursday November 12th in the YHS multi purpose room from 7-8 PM.
